NHS C-Card Free Condom Scheme – Service Evaluation and Improvements

The NHS in Wakefield wanted to understand 12-25 year olds usage and attitudes towards free condom schemes and sexual health screening so they could move the scheme forward to increase its coverage.

The research needed to cover the most vulnerable groups of young people.  Using our in house specialist recruiters and moderators trained in interviewing disengaged and vulnerable young people we liaised with organisations to set up a range of face to face interviews.  The key was flexibility in group sizes and approach with a host of tricks up our sleeve for engaging with the disengaged.  Professional depths were also conducted to understand the challenges faced for the scheme and to identify best practises for shared learning.

Practical and logistical advice was disseminated to a wide audience of stakeholders on how and where best to operate the scheme as well as the best methods for communications.
